When you where a ring everyday, don't settle for an everyday ring.

When you choose a Wedding Ring remember it will become the symbol of all you will experience throughout your married life.  It will last beyond the dress, be looked at more than the photos and is the only part which is blessed during the ceremony.

Your rings are the symbols of your love and commitment to each other. So take time to choose rings that have a design that will last and are of the highest quality to suit your budget.  Start looking at the same time as choosing the other big things especially if you want something commissioned .

Design - Quality - Metal - Ring size

Design
Going for a classic timeless design doesn't necessarily mean you have to choose a plain band. However, do try and imagine wearing your wedding ring in twenty years time.  Look at the rings of people who have been married for 20 years; have they stood the test of time?

At Lance James, we have in excess of 8,000 different wedding ring designs. Of course if you can't find what you want, our on-site workshop can offer you a bespoke service so you can design the ring your heart desires.

If you want to wear your wedding ring alongside your engagement ring, then you may need to consider a shaped band. Be aware that different metals wear at different rates – putting two different metals together will cause wear and tear on the softer metal.

However, it is not absolutely necessary for the wedding ring to match the engagement ring. If you want to go for something completely different, then why not wear them on different hands as they do in Europe ?

Choose a ring that is expressive of your style and personality. There is really no wrong answer as to what style of ring you should choose.

Quality
Price will affect quality – a wedding ring has to last a lifetime. Spend as much as you can afford on your wedding bands. After all, you will be spending thousands on your wedding day – which lasts just 24 hours. The wedding rings are the only reminder you will wear everyday from then on.

Pay attention to the weight of the ring as looks can be deceptive. Lighter rings are less hard-wearing and are more difficult to repair. A smaller more solid ring is a better choice than a larger looking but lighter version.

Metal
Do bear in mind how much wear you will be putting your rings through. If you do wish to wear your ring gardening, DIYing or Rock Climbing you should perhaps consider a harder wearing material. Platinum is the hardest of all the precious metals although there is a trend in alternative materials including titanium and steel, both very resilient.  The purer the gold, the softer it is; so 22ct is the softest, through 18ct to 9ct.  Some rings mix the materials and it's worth dropping in to see them on your finger.

Ring size
Obviously it is important to get the ring size right.  Get it checked where you are buying the ring, so if it turns out too small or too large it won't be down to you.  Not everyone gets this simple task right (and this can cause mega stress if it's 2 days before the wedding!) so go to a Jeweller who knows their stuff, not shops that just sell Jewellery.

You guys!  If you are not used to wearing rings, a ring is bound to feel strange – the minute it doesn't feel odd, usually means it is too big. And you don't want to lose it on your honeymoon!

We provide an excellent after sales service which includes refinishing and resizing, which can often be free of charge!  This is because, the wedding ring suppliers that we stock, are probably the three finest manufacturers in Europe.
